In Los Angeles Actor Lance Reddick, 60, passed away on 17 March 2023 Friday, according to his publicist.
Reddick “died away abruptly,” according to the actor’s agent Mia Hansen, and it was “natural causes.” She said nothing more in-depth.

The Baltimore native gained fame for his role as Cedric Daniels, a local police lieutenant, in the critically acclaimed HBO drama “The Wire,” which ran from 2002 to 2008. He also appeared in the “John Wick” film series.
His acting career began with modest roles on television’s “West Wing” in the late 1990s and early 2000s, as well as in 1998’s “The Siege,” a Denzel Washington film.
At about the same time, Reddick’s acting skills were on display in HBO’s “Oz,” in which he played a Jamaican drug dealer who later revealed himself to be an undercover police officer who had joined the criminal underworld.

Nonetheless, Riddick rose to fame as the unimpeachable Lt. Daniels. His officer was cool-headed, impartial, and fearless of a system of power that would jeopardize public safety.

Friday, a colleague “Det. Bunk Moreland in “Wire” actor Wendell Pierce tweeted, in part, “As good a musician as he was an actor. the pinnacle of elegance. Best wishes, my friend. Here, you left your mark.”
“Bosch” creator Michael Connelly tweeted, “Beyond being a critical part of the Bosch show, he was a beautiful person, friend, and collaborator. Irvin Irving was created by taking a character from the literature who was paper-thin.”
Reddick’s voice, according to comedian and television writer Mike Drucker, “could pierce through steel.” He tweeted, “This dude made every movie and show he was in better.”
Reddick’s mother was a music instructor, while his father taught high school English and social studies. He pursued the passion his mother had for classical piano, first in the Quaker high school he attended, then at the famed Eastman School of Music after enrolling at the University of Rochester.
He didn’t finish, and his big-stage goals didn’t materialize.
Reddick tried acting and submitted a theatre study application to Yale. His acceptance was unexpected, according to his official biography. Reddick was introduced to the public because of his understudy performance in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical “Angels in America,” which also starred Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson, and Tony Award-winner Jeffrey Wright.
His children, Yvonne Nicole and Christopher Reddick, as well as his wife, Stephanie Reddick, survive him.
