Hilary Swank made her network television debut as the star of ABC’s Alaska Daily in the 2022–2023 television season. It’s uncommon for a new show to debut with the star power of one Oscar winner, much less two, and ABC’s choice to run this one immediately following Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday nights undoubtedly helped.
Alaska Daily appeared to be a definite hit from the moment it debuted on the fall 2022 TV schedule, but it was discontinued after just one season. Now, let’s take a look at the cast member of Alaska Daily.
Who Is In The Alaska Daily Cast?
Alaska Daily clumsily treads the line between network TV sensibilities and edgier streaming material, but its central thesis about the value of local journalism is worthy of publication. A very talented ensemble of actors may be seen on Alaska Daily. We’re eager to discover more about the roles they perform and how they relate to the narrative.
Hilary Swank (Eileen Fitzgerald)
Hilary Swank takes on the role of former New York City journalist Eileen Fitzgerald on Alaska Daily. Fitzgerald joins the team led by her former mentor in Anchorage, Alaska, after being fired from her prominent position.
Swank’s work on the big screen throughout her career has earned her Oscars and Golden Globes for roles in films like Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby, as well as high praise for performances in films like The Homesman, Logan Lucky, and Insomnia, Christopher Nolan’s 2002 thriller remake that, ironically, also took place in Alaska.
Swank has also received much praise for performances in other films like The Homesman and Logan Lucky. Swank returned to acting in early 2010 after taking a vacation, appearing in Trust, BoJack Horseman, and Away.
Jeff Perry (Stanley Cornik)
Jeff Perry is portraying Stanley Cornik, Eileen’s mentor who offers her a new position and a fresh start at Alaska Daily.
Perry is no stranger to TV series, especially vintage ABC dramas like My So-Called Life and Grey’s Anatomy, and he has dedicated a significant chunk of his career to delighting viewers every week. Even a cursory look at Perry’s résumé will reveal scores of other episodes where Perry had smaller appearances, including Nash Bridges, Chicago Hope, Prison Break, Scandal, and many more.
Matt Malloy (Bob Young)
As Bob Young, a worker at the metro newspaper at the center of the show’s plot, seasoned film and television actor Matt Malloy joins the cast of Alaska Daily. The West Wing, Law & Order, Star Trek: Enterprise, Malcolm in the Middle, and countless other programs have featured Malloy during his career, which dates back to the late 1980s.

On television series like Alpha House, Six Feet Under, and Tanner ’88, to mention a few, he has also played more significant roles. His filmography is extensive, including The United States of America, Jeff, Who Lives at Home, War of the Sexes, and In the Company of Men.
Meredith Holzman (Claire Muncy)
Meredith Holzman plays local Claire Muncy of Anchorage, who uses her experience with the area to offer a crucial context for Eileen’s inquiry on Alaska Daily.
Being a former cast member of drama series like The Sinner, Inventing Anna, and The Good Fight, to mention a few, Holzman is well-versed in the art of starring on shows that deal with crime and mystery. Holzman has also been on some television programs throughout her career, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Only Murders in the Building, Chicago Fire, Madame Secretary, and The Blacklist.
Grace Dove (Rosalind ‘Roz’ Friendly)
Rosalind “Roz” appears in the cast of Alaska Daily as Grace Dove. Eileen is friendly and hesitantly takes the young reporter under her wing as she starts to look into the different tales of missing people in and around Anchorage.
Dove temporarily played Leonardo DiCaprio’s on-screen wife in Alejandro Iárritu’s acclaimed 2015 action movie The Revenant, which starred Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio. Since then, Dove has been cast in many films, including O for a Thousand Tongues, How It Ends, Monkey Beach, and the World War II drama Bones of Crows, which had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.
Pablo Castelblanco (Gabriel Tovar)
Pablo Castelblanco, a relative rookie to acting compared to some of his co-stars, joins the Alaska Daily cast as youthful Anchorage newspaper writer Gabriel Tovar.
Castelblanco’s credits, however, are quite outstanding despite just d@ting back a little more than half a decade. This includes programs like New Girl, Dear White People, Room 104, and his small-screen debut on the Fox horror comedy series Scream Queens, as well as numerous short films like There’s No Such Thing As a Dragon and Admission.
Ami Park (Yuna Park)
The Alaska Daily cast includes Ami Park as Yuna Park, a young, inexperienced reporter who will stop at nothing to assist Eileen in solving the main mystery of the program.

Around a dozen short films have included her as well, among them Power to the People: The Yuri Kochiyama Story, Many Names, and Nightlight, to name just a few.
Craig Frank (Austin Teague)
Craig Frank, who plays Austin Teague, a different character in the Anchorage newsroom, completes the Alaska Daily cast by appearing in the newspaper drama series.
