Carl Hens Beliard Obituary: What Was the Cause of His Death?

Carl Hens Beliard grew up in Worcester. On Wednesday, his mother, coach, and even Governor Maura Healey talked about his legacy and demise.

Carl was found inside a car with gunshot wounds at around 1:30 a.m., according to the Essex District Attorney’s Office, after officers were called to Forest Avenue to investigate a report of a shooting.

Carl’s mother Altagrace Beliard says that since he was two years old, basketball has been his obsession. His mother said that his dream was to play basketball professionally. A few months before Carl passed away, he and his colleagues met with Governor Maura Healey at the Massachusetts State House.

Carl was about to enroll in classes at Salem State at the moment. Healy recently discussed the visit, hours after the shooting.
