Gary Owen seems to have it all! What could possibly go wrong with a successful comedic career, a lovely wife, and a loving family?
Evidently everything, then! Kenya, Gary’s wife of nearly 20 years with whom he has three children, filed for divorce in March 2021. With several reports of Owen straying, the terrible breakdown of the marriage instantly had fans wondering what went wrong.
According to Gary Owen, the couple is separating because their marriage has expired, even though there was no significant trigger that caused it to end. Although the comic didn’t want to make things public, a number of outbursts were posted on Kenya’s social media.

As it turns out, Kenya’s rants were her sole means of communication with Gary during their divorce because she alleges he has not returned any of her or their children’s calls or texts. Yikes!
As if things weren’t already bad enough, Kenya is now requesting Gary Owen a sizable monthly payment. Kenya believes she is entitled to a monthly payment of that amount because the comedian is worth $3 million and has handled the household finances for the past nearly 20 years.
What Does The Divorce Settlement Look Like?
According to a series of court documents obtained by People Magazine, Kenya had first filed for divorce back in March, however, she’s now gone on to file an RFO for Support after Gary left her and the kids without the thousands per month that they’re used to.
“Although I was trying to come to an amicable solution with my husband … he has sadly left me with no choice but to submit this RFO for Support,” Duke claimed in the court declaration.

While this was the amount that was often deposited into their account when they were married, Kenya Duke is now asking Owen for $44,000 each month. Afterward, according to Kenya, “bills, credit cards, and personal expenditures for me and the kids” would be paid.
And that’s not all! Kenya was asked for a lump sum payment of $88,000 in addition to the $44,000 each month, which she requested to continue for about four years, as compensation for the “past two months he has failed to provide me with monies,” according to Kenya.
