Music lovers from all around the world are returning to England for the Eurovision Song Competition as soon as the United Kingdom recovers from the high of a coronation. The yearly songwriting competition showcases musicians and performers from all over the world as they perform an original song to represent their nation on a global platform.
Liverpool will host the Eurovision song contest this year. The event is typically hosted by the previous year’s winner’s nation, but because Ukraine won the competition the previous year due to the Russian invasion, the show was moved.
Julia Sanina, a singer from Ukraine, Graham Norton, a talk show host from Ireland, Hannah Waddingham, an actress from England, and Alesha Dixon, a singer from England, will serve as hosts. Despite the absence of a delegation from the United States, Americans can still join in on the yearly celebration and see for themselves what all the fuss is about.
“Eurovision is amazing because it showcases the diversity in sound not only from the countries showcasing but also the diversity in what countries enjoy,” matchmaker and longtime Eurovision fan Maria Avgitidis tell TODAY.com. Avgitidis will be hosting a final watch party in New York.
“It’s truly the foundation of inclusivity — the message of Eurovision has always been unity and acceptance.” Here’s how to tune in.
How Can I Watch Eurovision In The U.S.?
Peacock and Eurovision’s official YouTube channels will both provide live coverage of the semifinals and the grand final in certain countries and territories. Johnny Weir, a star of the ice skating competition at the Olympic Games, will serve as the host of the streamer’s telecast and provide commentary and analysis of the major event.
