After season 5, Kevin Costner won’t return to Yellowstone. The actor, who had a key role in making Yellowstone a cultural sensation, will allegedly quit the show following the current season’s filming.
After months of rumors and claims of feuds occurring behind the scenes of one of the most-watched television programs, there has been a rumored split. Apparently, Costner’s dedication to the fifth season of Yellowstone’s filming worried the show’s co-creator Taylor Sheridan.

The first half of Yellowstone’s fifth season has already aired, but the second half hasn’t been finished and doesn’t have a release date yet. Additionally, it’s unknown when the cast and crew will resume work on the new episodes at all, according to Entertainment Tonight.
The claim that Costner only made himself available for one week of production was one of the speculations regarding his commitment to filming part 2 of the season, which Costner’s attorney refuted. We have written the latest season about You, Season 4 Part 2: Why Does Love Return To The Series?

It is still unclear how Sheridan and his crew will deal with Costner’s abrupt disappearance from the flagship show of the Yellowstone universe—or even if that show will continue without its first major star—since production on the second half of season 5 has halted. The response to Polygon’s request for comment from Costner and Paramount reps will be updated here.
Update (May 5): Paramount announced that Yellowstone would end with the release of season 5, part 2, the one Costner was reportedly going to quit after. The series will be succeeded by a sequel show that is reportedly set to star Matthew McConaughey.
