American stand-up comedian, actor, host, producer, and host of a podcast named Michelle Buteau. Buteau was born in New Jersey to a Haitian father and a Jamaican mother who shared a portion of French and Lebanese ancestry.

Gijs van der Most, a photographer, and Michelle Buteau have been married for more than 13 years. The couple wed in July 2010 and delivered twins Hazel and Otis via surrogate in September 2019.
Although they keep their relationship private, Buteau frequently talks about him and shares stories from their relationship in her stand-up comedy specials. Buteau believed she would never get married, but she had “always wanted kids” and realized she had struck gold when she met her spouse in September 2020.

The comedian shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to her hubby on Instagram on September 15, 2018. “Happy birthday to the best life partner my freckled face could ever ask for. the world is hella better with you in it gijs aka b-o-b 💓 #dutchusbands,” the world is hella better with you in it gijs aka b-o-b #dutchusbands.
The pair exchanged vows in a traditional wedding ceremony in July 2010. The star of Survival of the Thickest wore a white mermaid gown with a ruched bodice and a crystal brooch, and her spouse wore a black three-piece suit with a striped ascot tie and coordinating pants.
They will commemorate their tenth wedding anniversary in 2020. In honor of the milestone, Buteau wrote the following caption under a photo from their wedding: “Today makes 10 years ✨ if I knew then what I know now, I’d still do that s—. Love is everythang y’all.”

In January 2019, Buteau and van der Most welcomed twins Hazel and Otis via surrogacy. Buteau posted an Instagram photo of herself holding the newborns to let her followers know the news.
“And just like that…we went from a family of two to four. Husband and I welcomed twins (a boy and a girl) via surrogate this past weekend,” she wrote in the caption. “After years of trying, countless needles #ivf and too many procedures to remember…it was well worth every tear. Baby Hazel and Otis are my rainbow at the end of the storm.”
The comedian had been quite transparent about their parenting journey. The actress revealed in September 2020 that her husband had first suggested she consider surrogacy after undergoing numerous IVF cycles.
Buteau does occasionally accompany her husband on some of his outdoor outings, despite the jokes she makes about their disparate pastimes. In March 2021, the pair went camping, and a few months later, they paddleboarded in Greece while on vacation.
