Cleveland, Ohio Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives Jason Stephens said in a letter on Saturday afternoon that Kris Jordan, the state representative for District 60, had passed away at the age of 46.
Stephens characterized Jordan as a devoted father of three, a follower of Christ, a leader, and a friend.
Jordan represented the 2nd district and spent eight years in the Ohio Senate before entering the Ohio House of Representatives. He passed away while serving his third term in the house.
At the age of 25, Jordan of Delaware County was elected to his first term as county commissioner. He held that position for six years before winning the election to become a state representative.
“I am deeply saddened to notify everyone of the passing of Congressman Kris Jordan, one of our own. I saw Kris as a very close friend who was also a devoted father, a leader, and a man of faith. Living in Delaware County all of his life, Kris dedicated his life to his family, friends, and neighbors. The three children of Kris and his devoted parents, Ralph and Pat, are in my thoughts and prayers,” Stephens said.

In a Facebook post, state senator Andrew Brenner reflected on his interactions with Jordan.
Since the beginning of the 1990s, I’ve known Kris. Together, he and I founded Delaware County’s first Teenage Republican Club, and he served as its inaugural president, according to Brenner. “Over the years, we have been friends, talked frequently, and given each other political advice. As a county commissioner, state senator, and state representative, he worked to advance the cause of liberty and small government.
“The Republican Party in our county, the Ohio Statehouse, and the conservative movement have all suffered greatly from his passing. My wife, Sara Marie, and I send our deepest condolences to his ex-wife, his three children, and his parents, all of whom we have known for close to 30 years. All of them will be in our prayers, and we encourage everyone to support them during this difficult time.”
