U-haul Truck Hits Pedestrians in Brooklyn After 1 Person Died, 8 Were Seriously Injured

Eight people were injured after someone drove a U-Haul truck into pedestrians in New York City on Monday morning.

Tragedy struck in Brooklyn, New York on Monday after a U-Haul truck suddenly drove into a group of pedestrians. According to sources, one person was killed and at least eight others were injured in the incident. The truck driver remains at large and authorities are currently searching for them.

This tragedy has shocked and saddened many people, as it has taken away an innocent life and many others injured.

According to our research, at least seven other persons were injured in addition to the 44-year-old victim’s death. A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told CNN. 

According to the New York Cops Department, the incident started when police stopped the hired truck in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, at 10:49 a.m. While avoiding the cops, the motorist ran over many pedestrians. 

The FDNY official stated that two persons had serious injuries and two others had critical ones. The other wounds were not serious. Authorities revealed during a news conference that one of the injured victims was a police officer.  The 62-year-old motorist, according to police, may have lately been the target of a report about an emotionally unstable person.

There is no initial indication of terrorism, NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell told reporters.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams tweeted that they had been briefed on the incident. Additionally, Adams said there are no further credible threats related to the incident.

In a second tweet, Hochul said: “I am praying for everyone who was injured today in Brooklyn. Grateful for the swift response of @NYPDnews to apprehend the suspect and of our first responders to tend to those injured.

“@nyspolice (state police) are in Brooklyn providing necessary assistance as the investigation unfolds.”
