What Happened With Gwyneth Paltrow?
The second week of testimony in the civil trial between actor Gwyneth Paltrow and the man who is accusing her of negligence in connection with a 2016 ski incident began.
The retired ophthalmologist Terry Sanderson alleges Paltrow collided with him on a Park City, Utah, ski hill, fracturing his ribs and leaving him with lifelong brain damage. Paltrow denies this and has filed a counterclaim for just $1 in damages and legal costs.
“I only recall that everything was wonderful until I overheard a blood-curdling scream, which I had never heard at a ski resort. then bang,” he remarked. “It seemed as though someone was driving out of control, was about to crash into a tree, and was going to perish. And up until I got hit, that was all I had.”
He continued by describing the effect.
I’ve never been hit so hard, said Sanderson, I got hit in my back so hard and exactly at my shoulder blades and it seemed like it was perfectly aligned and the fists and the poles were just at the bottom of my shoulder blades. All I could make out was a lot of snow.
Sanderson refuted claims that he sued Paltrow to profit from her notoriety and fortune.
After discovering she was the other skier in their incident, Sanderson told the jury, “I thought, ‘I’m not into celebrity worship.'”

Prior witness Craig Ramon was summoned back to the witness stand to talk about recently acquired information pertaining to a message board from earlier on Monday.
Ski instructor Eric Christiansen from Deer Valley Resort started speaking after the break for lunch.
Christiansen testified that he witnessed the events leading up to and immediately following the crash, as well as Sanderson’s state of health. Christiansen said that he missed Sanderson’s unconsciousness.
He claimed that when Christiansen asked Sanderson if he was alright, Sanderson twice apologized to Paltrow and claimed that Paltrow “simply materialized in front of me.”

According to Christiansen, he did not see the actual crash.
Whitney Smith, a ski patroller who attended to the collision between Paltrow and Sanderson, and Steve Graff, a former ski patrol supervisor who is currently the resort’s vice president of mountain operations, testified before the jury later in the day.
Sanderson had vocalized rib pain, according to Smith’s testimony, but he passed her initial cognitive tests. She stated in her testimony that she saw him as “alert,” did not see any signs of a significant head injury, and had no reason to think he was ever unconscious.

She counseled him to seek additional medical care at a clinic and stayed with Sanderson until he was picked up by friends.
Apple Martin and Moses Martin, as well as Paltrow’s husband and TV producer Brad Falchuck, were scheduled to appear on Monday, but delays in the case forced a change.
