While a powerful winter storm passed across Southern California on Thursday, a minor tornado briefly touched down in southeast Los Angeles County.
According to the National Weather Service office in Los Angeles, which confirmed the incident to KTLA, the twister made landfall at 11:30 a.m. in La Mirada, toppling many trees in the vicinity of Spindlewood and Larrylyn drives.
There were no visible damages to homes, and no injuries were mentioned.
According to the NWS, the tornado did not qualify for an EF (Enhanced Fujita Scale) rating. The EF-0 category, which encompasses tornadoes with wind speeds between 65 and 85 miles per hour, is the least powerful.

The winter storm caused an even more unusual Blizzard Warning for the mountains of Los Angeles County and produced a rare snowfall to very low elevations in the urban Los Angeles area.
Up to Saturday, two to five inches of rain are predicted to fall in lowlands and coastal areas.
