The story of Alex Murdaugh, the disgraced legal scion accused of killing his son Paul and wife Maggie, has recently captured the interest of the US (and beyond). Murdaugh is charged with more than 100 crimes, has been implicated in a number of other controversies, and is also accused of the killings.

Alex Murdaugh Is Incarcerated Or On Bond, Right?
At the moment, Alex Murdaugh is detained in South Carolina’s Richland County jail without posting a bond. His imprisonment began in October 2021.
According to the Independent, Murdaugh was shot on September 4, 2021, in what seemed to be a botched hit attempt. He survived and on September 5, 2021, after disclosing that he had battled opioid addiction for 20 years, decided to check himself into rehab.
However, Murdaugh admitted to planning his own shooting as part of a life insurance fraud on September 13, 2021. Murdaugh and his associate Curtis Smith were arrested and charged.

Murdaugh was granted a bond release so that he could go back to treatment. The disgraced heir was charged with stealing money from Gloria Satterfield’s family after being detained again on Oct. 14, 2021, after being released from rehab.
To put things in perspective, Satterfield was a housekeeper for the Murdaughs before she passed away thereafter stumbling and falling. The family alleged that after winning a wrongful death lawsuit against Murdaugh, Murdaugh never reimbursed them.

Murdaugh was facing 30 counts in connection with the Satterfield wrongful death lawsuit by November 19 of the same year.
His bond was set at $7 million for a number of financial offenses, and he was unable to post bail.
Murdaugh was then formally charged on July 14, 2022, with two charges of murder and two counts of having a weapon while committing a violent crime in connection with the deaths of his wife and son. He consented to a no-bond detention.
Notwithstanding his plea of innocence, the double-murder trial is still going on at the time of writing.
