1. Tom Cruise As Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell

Maverick learned to mature and develop into one of the top aviators in the Navy following the passing of his best friend Goose (Anthony Edwards).

4. Jennifer Connelly As Penny Benjamin
The character Penny was mentioned in the first Top Gun, but she didn’t appear until Top Gun Maverick. In Top Gun: Maverick, we see Penny and Maverick’s most recent encounter after years of on-again, off-again d@ting. Amelia is Penny’s daughter, and she runs a pub close to Top Gun. 5. Lyliana Wray As Amelia Benjamin
Penny Benjamin’s child is Amelia Benjamin. She gets along well with Maverick and adores her mother. Amelia only wants what’s best for her mother, despite the peculiar nature of Penny and Maverick’s relationship. On Weird Angel, The Night Shift, and Black-ish, Lyliana Wray has appeared as a guest.
6. Glen Powell As Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin
Top Gun’s Lt. Jake Seresin is one of the film’s top pilots, but the title refers to how recklessly he abandons his fellow pilots. Paradoxically, Maverick during his initial tenure at Top Gun isn’t all that different from Hangman. Maverick and Iceman are similar to Hangman and Rooster in several ways. As Hangman, Glen Powell’s magnetism is clearly on display.
The actor first went in for the job of Rooster, but after speaking with Tom Cruise, he decided to play Hangman instead. 8. Lewis Pullman As Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd
Bob becomes a dependable buddy and Phoenix’s second seat. Both his name and call sign are Bob, which makes for some amusing banter between him and his other pilots. Lewis Pullman has previously appeared in Them That Follow, Catch-22, and Bad Times at the El Royale. Thelma, Auxiliary Man, Salem’s Lot, and the Brie Larson-starring Apple series Lectures in Chemistry are among his following film roles.
9. Jay Ellis As Lt. Reuben “Payback” Fitch

11. Bashir Salahuddin As Wo-1. Bernie “Hondo” Coleman
Working on a project that Maverick is test-piloting is Warrant Officer Rank 1 Bernie. Hondo joins Maverick and takes over as his coach when Maverick is called back to Top Gun. Sherman McDaniels is played by Bashir Salahuddin, who also serves as the show’s writer and star. Also, he has roles in Robot Chicken, The Dropout, and the upcoming film Paradise.
12. Jon Hamm As Adm. Beau “Cyclone” Simpson
Maverick’s mission will be supervised by Admiral Simpson. He disapproves of Maverick’s antics and doesn’t believe he is the right candidate for the position. Cyclone is the ideal counterbalance to Maverick because of his strictness and no-nonsense demeanor.
He has additionally acted in the films Tag, Baby Driver, The Town, and most recently, Confess, Fletch, in which he played the main role. It appears that 2023 will be a big year for Hamm. In addition to reprising his role as Gabriel in Season 2 of Good Omens, he will also appear in Maggie Moore, John Slattery’s debut feature film, and Season 3 of the Apple original series The Morning Show. 13. Charles Parnell As Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates
Admiral Bates wants to help Maverick and is much more understanding of his past. Together with Cyclone, Warlock brings a more lenient perspective to the current predicament. Charles Parnell has starred in various projects, including, The Last Ship, The Venture Bros., and Transformers: Age of Extinction. The last time he was seen was in the FX series Kindred. He will star in The Killer, an action-noir movie directed by David Fincher, as well as Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Part One.
14. Ed Harris As Rear Admiral Chaster “Hammer” Cain
In Top Gun: Maverick, Ed Harris makes a fleeting appearance, but his influence is noticed. When Maverick is trying to accelerate his aircraft to Mach 10 in order to save the program he is currently test-flying for, Hammer first appears. Maverick is flying overhead as Hammer approaches to shut down the program in person.
