Mandy Demers, who lives close to the crash site, reported the occurrence by dialing 911.

Demers told News Center Maine, “I woke up and heard someone screaming really incredibly loud, blood-curdling screams for help.” When I went outside to investigate, I observed a female coming up our driveway and onto our deck while yelling for aid. This is the third significant accident that has almost occurred directly in front of our home in the roughly seven years that I have lived here.

“I’ve got teenagers for children. I regret the parents’ situation. I feel bad for the neighborhood. This is awful… As a police chief, I never want to receive that call, and the only thing I can advise is to slow down. A car accident that results in a fatality is not worth it.

According to headmaster Rene Menard in a statement, Abbott was an honor roll student at Thornton Academy, where the neighborhood is mourning his untimely passing.
